Opening and closing an old metal hatch in our basement. The hatch is locked by two handles. The first two creaks are the handles being turned, the last creak is the hatch itself. At around 0:10, the hatch is closed again and the two handles are turned to closed position. Recorded using a no-name directional microphone. This clip is the rear channels, mic'd at close range near the edge of the waterwheel, the sluicing sound of water falling out of the wheel is clearly discernible. Recording conducted with a zoom h2, mics set to 120° dispersion.

Crude arpeggio and single note taps of the inner strings of an early-20th-century chas m. Stieff upright piano. This particular model was made in baltimore and spent most of its life in the lobby of the willard intercontinental hotel in d. C. , and the last 30 years in our home in fairfax, virginia. We are dismantling part of the piano to repair, clean, and, unfortunately, sell it. The mechanism for one note is the only problem, and, of course, it needs tuning. Anyone willing to give this a good home?.

I recorded this gate in ashton court, bristol. I recorded it for a surround sound eco-soundscape composition however i felt the need to share as it was probably one of the best sounds i captured. The long hollow poles the gate is attached to creates a spooky reverb that sounds like its coming from the ground itself. Please feel free to use this wherever you need.

Recorded during riding by attaching a zoom h4n at my left leg. The xy-microphone pointed vertically direction to the seat/engine, so no spectacular stereo-sound, but different sound timbre on l/r. The exhaust had a rusted hole so it's not the original vespa-sound but more rough. Different styles of driving. Including starter and switching off. No sound editing was made, so maybe you like to filter away low frequencies (some little wind was behind the shield).
